When is the best time of year to replace my roof?

Written on the 10 May 2022 by MRA Roofing & Construction

It goes without saying that the best time of year to replace your roof is when it needs repairs or replacement.
It’s always better to respond sooner rather than later if you have detected a leak or visible damage, but if you would just like to have it maintained or replaced, there are better times of the year than others.

One of the biggest factors that goes into deciding the best time of year has to do with climate.

If you’re in Queensland or Northern NSW you are lucky enough to enjoy a subtropical climate, with moderately warm weather for most of the year. However, with the warm weather also comes the threat of storms and other unique weather conditions that can impact roofs.

The slightly cooler months of Autumn and Winter usually have the ideal weather conditions for the Gold Coast, SE Queensland as these months are dry and the threat of rain isn’t as present as during the summer months.

In Spring, the arrival of longer days and daylight savings (depending on where you live) result in more time    in the day and great overall conditions for a replacement.

Ultimately, if you can avoid urgent and necessary repairs, look to milder months in autumn and spring for your roof repairs and construction. Remember, it’s best to plan ahead to ensure your local roofer is available and has the materials on hand to perform your desired work.

Most professional roofing companies are constantly looking at the weather, no one wants a downpour when the roof is missing!
