Roof Replacement & Structural Upgrade - Cottonvale

At MRA Roofing & Construction, we take pride in providing roofing solutions that go beyond surface repairs and ensure every structure we work on is built to last. Our recent project, located at 148 Watson Road, Cottonvale, showcases our commitment to quality, compliance, and craftsmanship.

The Challenge

This project began as an insurance claim following hail damage to the existing roof. Upon thorough inspection alongside a structural engineer, we discovered that sections of the existing roof frame were not compliant with current standards. To ensure safety and durability, significant carpentry works were required before any roofing replacement could commence.

Our Solution

Our team performed comprehensive carpentry works to bring the structure up to code. This included the replacement of hardwood timber purlins and fascia boards, ensuring the new roof had a strong, stable, and compliant foundation. While undertaking the carpentry upgrades, we simultaneously completed a full roof replacement, coordinating the entire process efficiently to minimise downtime for the client.

Materials & Process

The project utilised high-strength hardwood timber, fixed securely to cleats using the correct engineering fixings. We also worked closely with local suppliers to deliver all materials, including flashings, directly to site. To safely and efficiently position the new roofing materials, we engaged a local crane company to lift the roof sheets into place.

For the new roof, we opted for Colorbond Corrugated sheeting in Surfmist, a durable and modern finish that not only enhances the building’s appearance but also offers long-term protection from the elements.

Benefits of the Upgrade

While hardwood timber represents a higher upfront cost, its strength, durability, and compliance with engineering specifications made it the ideal choice for this project. The switch from Zincalume to Colorbond Surfmist also provides a superior aesthetic, improved corrosion resistance, and reduced maintenance over time, all valuable long-term benefits for the client.

A Regional Effort

This project took place four hours from our head office, in the town of Cottonvale, on the Queensland/New South Wales border. Our team stayed locally for the duration of the week-long project, working efficiently to complete all roofing and carpentry tasks on schedule.

At MRA Roofing & Construction, we’re proud of our ability to deliver complex roofing and structural solutions no matter the location or challenge.

If your property requires insurance repairs, structural compliance upgrades, or complete roof replacements, MRA has the expertise, team, and trusted network to get the job done right.
