Large Commercial Warehouse Rebuild: Acacia Ridge

When a severe fire tore through a large commercial warehouse in Acacia Ridge, it destroyed the building from roof to floor. Partnering with a leading national insurance builder, MRA Roofing & Construction executed a complex, two-stage demolition and rebuild to safely restore the site for commercial operation.

The Challenge

The fire damage was extensive, requiring a total structural strip-out before any rebuilding could begin. The project involved major insurance works spanning over a month, demanding strict safety protocols and precise coordination. MRA Roofing & Construction stepped in to manage the complete demolition of the damaged roofing structure and deliver a full rebuild and fit-out, paving the way for the return of normal business operations.

Our Approach

We tackled this major commercial rebuild in two distinct stages to ensure safety and structural integrity.

Stage 1: Complete Demolition

Our crew safely dismantled and removed the fire-damaged materials, clearing the site for structural works. This phase included the removal of:

  • Over 700 square metres of metal roofing and skylights
  • Over 700 square metres of sarking
  • More than 500 linear metres of roof purlins
  • Eaves gutters and downpipes
  • 45 linear metres of exterior wall cladding (facade)
  • Four commercial roller doors
  • Damaged internal wall structures

Stage 2: Structural Rebuild and Roof Installation

With the site cleared, we installed a completely new, compliant roofing system. Our installation scope included:

  • Structural steel and new purlins
  • Heavy-duty safety wire and foil-faced anti-condensation insulation blankets
  • New metal roof sheeting
  • Square eaves gutters and downpipes
  • Trimdek metal sheeting for the internal walls
  • Spandek exterior facade for a durable, clean finish
  • Whirlybirds to ensure adequate building ventilation

Products and Equipment Utilised

To guarantee a high-quality finish and meet strict commercial building standards, we used premium materials and heavy machinery, including:

  • COLORBOND® 0.48 BMT Trimdek metal roof sheeting
  • 2400 GSM Opal Colour Trimdek skylight sheeting
  • Cranes and Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) to safely manage heavy structural steel and high-access installations

The Results

The Acacia Ridge warehouse now features a brand-new steel and metal roof structure, offering renewed commercial functionality and strong visual presentation. The premium materials used provide the client with the peace of mind of a long-term warranty.

This project required seamless coordination with numerous mechanical, electrical, and fit-out trades.
